Welcome to the simplified Blog Template for the new 'Internet Baseball Scorecard 2013'.

I thought the reason the css wasn't working to render class attributes in the Blogger 'Compose' Interface - was that perhaps because of some hack I did in the template of the 2010 version of the blog - some critical edit I made as I was learning css and javascript was screwing up the works inside the new Blogger interface - which arrived post-beta - in early 2012.

This new baseball scorecard blog is the simplest hack I could think of. The blog was customized from a 3 column blog that is set to align left. (Blogger Template Style 'Simple' by Josh Peterson www.noaesthetic.com). Josh Peterson's Simple Template came with a 1500 pixels wide limit - which I reset to 3000 pixels in the blog's Template Variables. Then I deleted all the right column html and css - and that left me with a 3000 pixel wide blog that aligns left and has a 300 pixel wide left-sidebar - in which I placed a standard 'Blog Archive' widget.

Unfortunately this test proves that, with the CSS in a separate file - or in the blogs template - the Blogger interface does not properly place elements in Blogger's 'Compose' mode, writing interface --- which is key to this baseball scorecard project, because the baseball game is scored by the user, in the Compose interface - it must render exactly as the published post renders - it does not.

What you see is not what you get in this case - very strange; and very much limits what one can do with Blogger. I'm very disappointed. But, disappointment sometimes must be the mother of invention ... unfortunately.

I re-wrote the scorecard with all the style in the html - and it works perfectly, in Compose, and on Publish.

I will begin scoring the 2013 Blue Jays' season with the in-line style mark-up.

The Scoring Notations

BB Base on Balls - Batter to first base because the umpire ruled that pitched ball was the forth pitch of the at-bat out of the strike zone HBP Hit By Pitch - Batter is ruled by the umpire to have been hit by pitch - awarded one base BH Base Hit - Batter-runner safe at first base via a hit ball 2BH Two Base Hit - Batter-runner safe at second base via a hit ball 3BH Three Base Hit - Batter-runner safe at third base via a hit ball HR Home Run - Batter-runner safe at home plate via a hit ball RBI Run Batted In - via a SAC, a BH or a BB - a run scores RS Run Scored. SAC Sacrifice - With less than two outs the batter causes a base runner to advance but in the process, is put out FC Ball hit on the ground, fielded and a put-out made of any base runner other than the batter-runner DI Defensive Indifference - A baserunner advances because the defence, for strategic reasons, does nothing IBB Intentional Base on Balls - The defences decides to walk a batter for strategic reasons
